Randy Cutbirth Memorial
SMRHA – Southwest Missouri Reining Horse Association
The first annual Randy Cutbirth Memorial was held by SMRHA in Mt.
Vernon, MO on July 21 – 22, 2007.
The show was a huge success with a record
number of entries.

Randy Cutbirth Memorial I –
In
the open divisions, Bobby Avila Jr. was co-champion on Rashel Forgey’s
Mates Voyager and also riding Carl Gregory’s Dakota Lena. In the
intermediate open Bobby Avila Jr. was also co-champion on Rashel
Forgey’s Mates Voyager and also riding Carl Gregory’s Dakota Lena. In
the Ltd. Open Sean Johnson won on Dennis Lamecker’s Sailor Whiz and tied
for second was Jeremy Lipps on Vickie Holbrook’s Sheza Ruff Commander
and Becky Carter on Marty Lower’s Lenas First Gun. In the Rookie
Professional, the win went to Becky Carter on Marty Lower’s Lenas First
Gun and second place went to J D Roberson on his own Rawhides Yeso.
Novice Horse open was won by Eber Christopher on QT Poco Pinta owned by
Marcos Ek and second place went to Jim Dudley on Molly Butterworth’s
Highlowandinbetween.
In
the Non Pro and the Intermediate Non Pro division was Melissa Hood
taking first place aboard Watch This Way and second place was a tie
between Debra Cole riding LC Royal Chic and Freddie Horn riding Ginnin
Starlight. In the Ltd. Non Pro Debra Cole took the win on Lc Royal Chic
and second place went to Rita Reed Harris riding Josie Lena Chic.
Donna Perry won the Prime Time Non Pro on Just Enuf Freckle. Novice
Horse Non Pro was won by Carrie Jennings on Smart Like Hank while second
place was a tie between Merida Solum on Fashionable Chic and Gene
Jernigan on Tanner Roos Wrangler.
Vickie Holbrook continued to have a good day winning the Rookie class
on Sheza Ruff Commander, Nancy Conn took second on Spirit With A Twist.
The Prime Time Rookie was won by Carl Gregory on Dakota Lena and second
went to Tanya Duvall-Haubein riding Hopes Spirit.
Youth 14-18 was won by Will Letner on A Genuine Diamond and second
place went to Nicholas Murphy riding Sail Wins Sunset. Youth 13 and
under was won by Holly Lauth riding CE Starlight and second place was a
tie between Jacob Ballard riding Paid Gun and Makayla Brown riding Joses
Autumn Jac. Youth Rookie was won by Meagan Gardner on The Cool Guy and
second place went to Makayla Brown riding Joses Autumn Jac. Short
Stirrups was won by Emma Holbrook riding Lena Jac Honey.

In
the open divisions, Randy Schaffhauser won the open on Wayne Farley’s
Dun Roostin. In second place was Bobby Avila Jr. tied with himself on
Frankie Forgey’s Liltroublelenawhiz and Carl Gregory’s Dakota Lena. In
the Intermediate open Bobby Avila Jr. was Co-champion on Frankie
Forgey’s Liltroublelenawhiz and Carl Gregory’s Dakota Lena. In the Ltd.
Open Sean Johnson won on Dennis Lamecker’s Sailor Whiz and in second was
Becky Carter on Marty Lower’s Lenas First Gun. Becky also won the
Rookie Professional on Marty Lower’s Lena First Gun and second place
went to J D Roberson on his own Rawhides Yeso. Novice Horse open was
won by Eber Christopher on QTS Cita Spots owned by Charles Matusack and
second place was a three way tie between Randy Schaffhauser riding
Katies Chic Olena owned by Jerry Butch Hunsucker, Eber Christopher
riding QT Poco Pinta owned by Marcos Ek and Sean Johnson riding Mark
This Freckle owned by Elizabeth Lanier.
In
the Non Pro and the Intermediate Non Pro division was Melissa Hood
taking first place aboard Watch This Way and second place went to Glen
Reed riding Checs Sport Model. In the Ltd. Non Pro Gene Jernigan took
the win on Tanner Roos Wrangler and second place went to Jake Ballard
riding Paid Gun. Jim Knight won the Prime Time Non Pro on Sailing
Starlight. Novice Horse Non Pro was won by Carrie Jennings on Smart
Like Hank while second place went to Holly Lauth on CE Starlight.
The
Rookie class was won by Vickie Holbrook Sheza Ruff Commander. Second
place was a tie between Kayla Smith on Luva Ct Lena and Karen Knight
riding Whizards Rooster. The Prime Time Rookie was tied between
Elizabeth Frisch on Al B Cody O’Lenas and Sandy Herd riding Little Smart
Lorena and second place went to Carl Gregory on Dakota Lena.
Youth 14-18 was won by Nicholas Murphy riding Sail Wins Sunset and
second place went to Will Letner on A Genuine Diamond. Youth 13 and
under was won by Jake Ballard riding Paid Gun and second place went to
Holly Lauth on CE Starlight. Youth Rookie was won by Makayla Brown
riding Joses Autumn Jac and second place went to Kelly Whorton riding
Mostly Velvet. Short Stirrups was won by Emma Holbrook riding Lena
Jac Honey.
The
Randy Cutbirth award was given to the weekend highpoint open rider.
The award was a Tim Cox oil and it was won by Bobby Avila Jr. riding
Carl Gregory’s Dakota Lena. This was a special award as Randy taught
Bobby to ride his first reiner and was Bobby’s first employer.
Presenting the award was Nancy Voletz-Cutbirth and Jake Ballard. Thanks
